Small plots of old vineyards with different altitudes, orientations and soil structures
In AIURRI we seek and want to enhance the value of some of the most important vineyards in Rioja Alavesa, recovering and bringing back to life the centenary vineyard of Leza and its varietal richness. A commitment to the landscape, the wine-growing culture, the heritage and its people.
THE SOILS
The AIURRI vineyard sits on soils of wide and diverse edaphological peculiarities around 500-600 meters above sea level. Loamy loam with a high limestone content and a good amount of organic matter.
THE LANDSCAPE
The hillsides that have formed around the vineyards offer different degrees of solar exposure, favoring a gradual ripening of the grapes and optimal photosynthesis.
The layout of the vineyards on terraces and steep slopes allows for natural drainage and greater contact with the flow of wind and solar radiation, protecting the vine cycle.

THE INFLUENCE OF THE MOUNTAINS
The Sierra de Toloño acts as a natural barrier to protect the Leza vineyard area from adverse climatic conditions. Its orography contributes to the creation of a unique microclimate in which Atlantic and Mediterranean influences are combined.
AN EXTREME WEATHER
The mountains block the cold and humid winds from the north, creating a warmer and drier environment, ideal for the cultivation of grapes. The thermal inversion between day and night helps the grapes to ripen more fully, giving them greater complexity and maintaining their freshness.
THE BIODIVERSITY
The vineyard cohabits with olive trees and holm oaks that together with the aromatic plants: lavender, rosemary and thyme make up a natural heritage of great value.
